Sorry, just wanna post this rant somewhere. I was too scared to post it as a deviation or as a journal entry for my own cowardly reasons. But now it needs to be said.

Okay, rant time.

[WARNING: I describe rape in this. Not too graphically, but still. Be forwarned.]

“Oh, wow! He’s soooo sexy! I wanna kiss him forever!”
“Screw that! I wanna RAPE him!”
“Yeah, me too! LOL”
“Let’s have a rape party! We can rape him together!”
“Yeah!”
“LOL”

…how many times have you seen a conversation like this? I have countless times. For some reason, these people have tricked themselves into thinking that rape is a good ting.

A lot of the people I see online have confused the terms “making love” and “rape”. I understand being attracted to someone and wanting to have sex with them. But why on Earth would you want to violate them? Do you think raping an individual would make them like you? I know half the time these people are kidding. But rape isn’t something to joke about. It’s not funny. Not one bit.

I’m not pointing fingers and/or naming any names. So, don’t lash out at me if you assume I am talking about you or your friends.

Again, it’s reasonable to be so heavily attracted to a cartoon character/celebrity/storybook character/movie character/etc that you’d like to engage in sexual intercourse with them. But wanting to actually rape them? That’s not something I think you should be advertising.
You do realize that to rape someone, means to force yourself on an individual who is unwilling to comply, right? I would think that you’d at least like your crush to be willing to be with you like that.

Even if you’re just joking about it, rape is not funny. This is why few people will take it seriously. Because just about everyone makes jokes about it, as if it were nothing to worry about. I’m sure this does not amuse the rape victims.

I’ve never been raped. I’m still a virgin. But one does not need to have been raped to know that it can cause the victims to experience all kinds of trauma.

Wanna know what rape is? This is one form of rape:
Someone is making you engage in sexual intercourse with them. Someone you either thought you could trust, never trusted, or didn’t even know. It could be anyone. You say no, but they don’t listen. They force you. You beg for them to stop. They keep going. In their head, you like it. In reality, you don’t and want them to stop it. This is probably when you start crying, if you haven’t already. They hurt you physically and mentally. Once they stop, they get smug as they flee. They know what they did, and they’re proud of it. You’re broken inside. You’re scared and confused. You try to close your eyes and shake away the pain. But you keep seeing their face. You feel their touch. You don’t know what to anymore.
That is one way that rape happens. It can happen in several other ways. Sometimes the victims aren’t even conscious during the assault.

Now I don’t want to hear “I’m just joking! Sheesh!”, “Get a life!”, “How horrible! Why would you type this!?”, or “Leave me alone! What I say is none of your business!” from any of you. I already said that I know people are joking half the time. But once again, it’s just not something you should be “kidding” or “joking” about.

If I was that attracted to someone, I would rather them be willing than not want me to. I’d rather make love with someone who’s willing to comply. Not force myself on someone who isn’t.

Rape and “have sex/make love” are not the same thing. I can’t stress that enough. To have sex/make love is when the individuals are willing to…well, have sex, basically. Rape is when someone is forced to unwillingly have sex by someone else.
Don’t give me the “What if they secretly liked it?” bullshit excuse. No means no. It doesn’t mean yes. It does not mean maybe. It. Means. No. Got it?
And don’t give me the “Well, they were dressed slutty and/or were acting provocative. They were asking for it!” line either. No one asks to get raped. (Not unless they were wearing a shirt or holding a sign that says “Come rape me!”.) I do agree that they shouldn’t be dressing half naked and strutting around if they don’t want anyone to touch them. But that does not make it okay to force one’s self on them. There is no excuse for raping a person. There is no way to justify it. It’s just wrong. And the sooner the people of today realize that, the better.

In conclusion, rape is bad. It’s not funny, and it shouldn’t be joked about. I boil over with anger every time I see people joke about it.

If you for some reason think this was directed at you…then you’re a bit full of yourself. I didn’t name any names. And I did not point fingers at any individuals around here. I’m just saying anyone who makes jokes about rape in general. Not specific people. Just everyone who does.

So…
Still think it’s funny?

Sorry, had to get that out of my system. My class mates are seriously pissing me off lately and I need to blow off some steam.

Technically, rape is sex; whether one person is willing to or not does not change that. The definition of rape is, as stated by Dictionary.com, "any act of sexual intercourse that is forced upon a person."

I get your point, though-rape is nothing to be joked about.
I find this strange, because I just finished reading Speak for English, which is a book telling the story of a girl who was raped and how she finally found the courage to tell someone.
Anyway, yes. Rape is bad.
:iconfluffy-the-wolf:
Yes, rape is technically sex. But when you think about it, sex is something that should be enjoyed. Not something taht is forced on someone who doesn't want it. Forcing it is beyond wrong.

Yeah, rape is very bad. I hate hearing people make jokes about it as if it were no big deal.

Fun things to say in a crowded room:
-Hey, where'd my pet mouse go?
-I knew I shouldn't have eaten all those prunes...
-Who's up for a dance off?
-Does anyone else hear a strange ticking noise?
-Incoming!!!
:iconburyuu:
Well, people probably joke about it because they're afraid about it. By making light of such a serious topic, they help to deal with their own insecurities and fears.
Sexual harassment is bad too.
At a recent concert at my High School, I was waiting in back for the Chamber Strings to finish (because people who were in both chorus and orchestra like myself had to change out of our robes and into our dresses/tuxes) and the old guy standing behind me kept touching my ass.
I would've punched him, but it was the middle of a concert. ._.
:iconfluffy-the-wolf:
No, most of the time they are saying things like "I wanna rape thgat guy cause he's hawt!". I don't think it's to shed light on fear. just someone confusing the terms "rape" and "sleep with".

Yeesh, that's scary. Did you tell anyone?

This is true. :I
Although they probably use rape because, even though they're stupid fucks, they can at least realize that the person they want to sleep with would never even want to get near them. :I

Yeah, I told a bunch of my friends. >>
:iconfluffy-the-wolf:
 I guess. But taht doesn't make it okay to joke about.

Good. I hope something was done about that old guy.

Meh.
I hope they all die virgins. :I

Well, I have no idea who that old guy was, so there wasn't really anything we /could/ do.
:iconfluffy-the-wolf:
I hope they get neutered/spayed.

That sucks. Let's just hope he eventually gets what he deserves for that.

Karma's gonna come kick his ass.
Ahaha.
Irony. -3-

You make a very good point, and I think you said it well. I'm glad you decided to post it.
